About PrEP

PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is medicine people at risk for HIV take to prevent getting HIV from sex or injection drug use.

If you think PrEP may be right for you, visit your doctor or health care provider. PrEP is only available by prescription. Any health care provider licensed to write prescriptions can prescribe PrEP; specialization in infectious diseases or HIV medicine is not required.

Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U)

Treatment as Prevention

U=U means that people with HIV who achieve and maintain an undetectable viral load—the amount of HIV in the blood—by taking antiretroviral therapy (ART) daily as prescribed cannot sexually transmit the virus to others.

Understanding Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

STIs are sexually transmitted diseases. This means they are most often -- but not exclusively -- spread by sexual intercourse. STIs are serious illnesses that require treatment. Some STIs, such as HIV, cannot be cured and can be deadly. By learning more about STIs, you can learn ways to protect yourself.

How To Talk About Sex

Communication is important. Especially, with your sexual partners and your healthcare provider. If you are engaging in any type of sex, you should talk about your sexual health.
